This is the generic name or what we also know as Valium; a powerful and addictive medication that should only be taken short term and which can have accumulative effects so that it works more powerfully on the second day than the first and on the third than the second and so on. 50 mgs should make a person extremely light headed and dopey..in a fairly pleasant way. for a short time before simply knocking them out..although 20 mgs would probably do the same to someone who has not used the stuff before or even recently. If it is the first time you have been prescribed it then I would ask the doctor for a much lower dose at first, so that you can find out what you actually need. Do not take this drug for more than a week without checking back with your doctor, do not drive or operate machinery at any time that you are taking and under no circumstances take alcohol whilst you are on it…the results can be terminal.
Some doctors are more willing to prescribe diazepam than others, especially the older ones who got used to handing the stuff out like candy during the sixties and seventies; so be aware that it is a medication to be treated seriously and if you are not happy about your doctor’s attitude towards it then ask to see another doctor in the practice. In its favour this is a very effective drug but it should always be used with caution.
Not normally this medication ussually slows bodily functions however in a few people it can have a reverse reaction and accually speed you up. But this is rare.
i believe benzodiazepenes , or the class of drugs which diazepam belongs to, can cause reflex tachycardia in large enough doses…. however the therapeutic index… or margin of therapeutic effect in terms of its concentration is fairly high when it comes to cardiovascular issues. i would say if your on like…. i dont know 60 mg or something or are not use to taking it and took a little than maybe you are getting this “reflex tachycardia” or speeding up of the heart. benzo’s can slow down the heart but the heart has internal regulators which can recognize when the heart is beating to slowly…. and then it will send a message to SPEED up the heart….. so it is possible….. maybe your smoking pot with it?

You would be out of this world for a while..or you’ll wake up in a mortuary(if you can)
You would be seriously “out to lunch”.
you will be well out of it.
