   Oh dear,both are such dreadful drugs and are now never used by up to date community addiction specialists. After 3 nights consecutive use of zopiclone there absence is clear on the forth night and sleep is much more difficult to obtain. They are so addictive that diazepam,addictive enough in its own right,is used to withdraw patients from zopiclone!
   The benzodiazepine of choice for alcohol withdrawal is chordiazepoxide and it is only ever prescribed for 7 days and never as maintenance.
