Diazepam. Help On What To Suggest To My Doctor?
My doctor prescribed me 5mg of diazepam twice daily. I don’t want him to give me a higher dosage, because my current dosage has been a blessing from god and the only thing I have ever been prescribed that has ended my hell of chronic anxiety. I am scared to tell him though that I think I may need this 3 times daily instead of two, Since I am awake 16 hours a day. I make sure I only get eight hours of sleep.
Any experiences will be very helpful, because I am fearful If I ask for this medicine three times daily he will take me off of it completly.

Its an opiate narcotic like every other pain med and depression med. Yes, it is addictive.
Guessing it wasn’t prescribed to take 5 at a time. That means it is being abused. Sounds like a drug problem to me. Regardless of ingredients, no medicine needs to be taken like that.
Ultram is considered “narcotic like”. It definitely has addictive properties, and it should not be taken if the person has a history of drug or alcohol addiction. It is not opiod analgesic! It is very similar though, and it does work in the central nervous system. The dose should never exceed 400mg total a day!

I have been told that Ultram is a member of the oxycontin family of drugs, which are synthetic opiates. They are addictive, but ultram is unique in the fact that if taken as prescribed-there is no mind altering effect.
I can tell you from personal experience that once you come off the drug, there are withdrawal affects, ( generally flu like symptoms without the congestion).
Your cousin is playing russian roulette with a fully loaded revolver if he/she is taking 5 at a time,…worse if combining that with booze,….
as someone who used to abuse it. hell yeah it makes you high. and it is addictive. maybe not as addictive as oxycontin, but addictive nonetheless. it sounds like some people are still in denial and want to justify their actions.
They most certainly are addictive! My cousin is a recovering heroin addict and that’s what he started with was ultrams and vicodins! Get him help ASAP!
I dont know an exact answer, but I take tramdol and it can make you feel like that. and I only take 2. it gives you a slurred feeling.
That is not a really high dose for valium. Go ahead and ask him, tell him you think you are almost there but would like to try one ome tab a day because you seem to have finally found something that is working. Perhaps you could take 1.5 tabs twice a day? Or do you need the extra time? If time is the problem it should be ok. Is there an extended release form–I don’t think so, but things are always changing.
Good luck. Let him know it wears off too soon.
Ok. Why do you think you will need the Diazapam three times a day if it is already helping your anxiety?Taking it two times a day should help you enough.I take diazapam twice a day at 2mg per tablet so 1 tab twice a day and it has really helped me a lot.I think you should tell your doctor exactly how you feel and how many times you need it and it at even three times at somepoint you feel you don’t need as often you can decrease the amount of times that you take it throughout the day.My advice is if you feel that your dr may take you off of it completely then you may consider finding a psychiatrist or possibly a pcp may perscribe it for you(if you’re lucky)
