Help! How Long Does It Take For Tramadol (ultram?) To Work?? My Hubby Is In Sooo Much Pain!?
he is having really bad back pain and the dr. gave him tramadol. It isn’t working… How long does it take to start giving him some relief?

Tramadol is a centrally acting analgesic that has been shown to be effective in a variety of acute and chronic pain states. . . . . .Tramadol is rapidly and almost completely absorbed, with an onset of action occurring within 1 hour of oral administration. The recommended dosage is 50 to 100 mg every 4 to 6 hours.
Short answer —— 1 hour.
You can thank the drug-seekers of this nation for your husband getting a crappy drug! I’ve rarely heard of Ultram helping with pain… I’ve taken it before & I might have well eaten an m&m. I suggest waiting an hour, if it doesn’t work, take a few Tylenol or Ibuprofen, and try to rest as much as possible until morning. If his back’s still killing him in the morning, try to get in with your primary care physician. They’re less-likely to think of him as a potential drug-seeker. Good luck!
I’ve been prescribed it a couple times (right now for back muscle spasm and neck pain). I don’t think it gets rid of this pain quickly, and have found a faint lingering pain still in my shoulder and arm even after an hour.
When it was prescribed a couple years ago for a pain on my scalp.(Sunburn, or shingles). It seemed to relieve it within 15 minutes. I could actually feel it numb my whole body and relax me to near sleep.
Most people don’t like Ultram. I like it though, he won’t.
Should be 30 minutes to 45. Look at some of my answers on this drug. Type in Ultram sucks on Google ,and did they tell him it was non-narcotic? Itis.
