Hi I Have Started To Take Diazepam What Are The Side Affects If Thee Is Any?
What are the possible side effects of diazepam?
• If you experience any of the following serious side effects, stop taking diazepam and seek emergency medical attention or contact your doctor immediately:
· an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; closing of your throat; swelling of your lips, face, or tongue; or hives);
· sores in the mouth or throat;
· yellowing of the skin or eyes;
· a rash;
· hallucinations or severe confusion; or
· changes in your vision.
• Other, less serious side effects may be more likely to occur. Continue to take diazepam and talk to your doctor if you experience
· drowsiness, dizziness, or clumsiness;
· depression;
· nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, or constipation;
· difficulty urinating;
· vivid dreams;
· headache;
· dry mouth;
· decreased sex drive; or
· changes in behavior.
• Side effects other than those listed here may also occur. Talk to your doctor about any side effect that seems unusual or that is especially bothersome.
What other drugs will affect diazepam?
• Diazepam may increase the effects of other drugs that cause drowsiness, including antidepressants, alcohol, antihistamines, sedatives (used to treat insomnia), pain relievers, anxiety medicines, seizure medicines, and muscle relaxants. Tell your doctor about all medicines that you are taking, and do not take any medicine without first talking to your doctor.
• Antacids may decrease the effects of diazepam. Separate doses of an antacid and diazepam by several hours whenever possible.
• Drugs other than those listed here may also interact with diazepam. Talk to your doctor and pharmacist before taking any prescription or over-the-counter medicines.

Better yet, swallow a pill.
The reasons that we tend to inject medication are:
* more predictable onset and effect
* patient can’t take anything by mouth
* it only comes that way (not the case with diazepam)
* drug is inactivated in the stomach
If you can take oral medication, take a pill. I’d avoid mixing it with anything other than water though. The acidity of an orange might alter the drug.
sound about right! you could do that but! their is a good reason why somethings come in syrange’s
There was literature that came with you rmedication from the pharamacy. If you look at it you will see that it lists the side effects of this med. Always ask the doc about the medication and side effects before you leave his office and read the literature that you get with your medication from the pharmacy. If you accidently threw your literature in the trash just do a web search for Valiam side effects and you can read the info there.
the most notable is memory loss..
but other than that its just being “drugged up” a little and being a little more stupid than usual.
this drug is funny though because people on it do not think they are acting drugged up, but everyone else can notice..
this is of course dose dependant… 10mg a day will cause these effects.. 5mg will a little
and any less than 5mg a day and its no big deal at all.
Spelling mistakes are a common side effect, I’m sorry i couldn’t resist.
There are side affects to any medication and previous answers have given you quite a list for diazepam, although I was on quite a high dosage of diazepam and I suffered no side affects at all. Im off it now, just on lorazepam prn and tamazepam (as well as other meds) now. they have similar side affects but again I have been lucky and don’t suffer from any, they just calm me down. I hope you don’t suffer any side affects.
The most frequent side effects of diazepam are drowsiness, fatigue, and ataxia (loss of balance). Rarely, diazepam causes a paradoxical reaction with excitability, muscle spasm, lack of sleep, and rage. Confusion, depression, speech problems, and double vision are also rare side effects of diazepam.
The most common adverse effects reported are drowsiness and ataxia. Other reactions noted less frequently are fatigue, dizziness, nausea, blurred vision, diplopia, vertigo, headache, slurred speech, tremors, hypoactivity, dysarthria, euphoria, impairment of memory, confusion, depression, incontinence or urinary retention, constipation, skin rash, generalized exfoliative dermatitis, hypotension, changes in libido.
The more serious adverse reactions occasionally reported are leukopenia, jaundice, hypersensitivity and paradoxical reactions.
Paradoxical reactions such as hyperexcited states, anxiety, excitement, hallucinations, increased muscle spasticity, insomnia, rage, as well as sleep disturbances and stimulation, have been reported; should these occur, the drug should be discontinued.
Minor changes in EEG patterns have been observed in patients on diazepam therapy. These changes consist of low to moderate voltage fast activity, 20 to 30 cycles/second and are of no known significance.
You do not dream, that is one big side effect. And yes, i just realised and agree from reading another posting that nearly everyone in my family can tell when I am on them. They say my voice is slightly slurred!!
I respect you too much as a person to “cut and paste” some huge answer here. The full description of diazepam’s effects are readily available on the internet.
Hope it all works out OK for you. Diazepam can be a godsend.
Addiction!
Much better drugs on the market today and lots of research to support them
you should read the information leaflet that came with the tabs,all side effects differ,diazapam should not b taken for any longer than about 3 weeks as it can get highly addictive..thats y alot of heroine users use this drug because of its addictive properties,i used it 4 a fortnite for pain relief as i have curvature of the spine then stopped taking it and your doctor should have advised you of that,you can get dizzy sick stomach upsets halucinations tho as i said some dont suffer side affects,i never did n i was on 4mg a nite but plz do not take it longterm
Diazepam is a generic form of Valium commonly used to treat anxiety, sleep disorders, and muscle spasms. Side affects include, dizziness, nausea, and drowsiness. It is mildly addictive and classed as a C-III drug. It should never be taken alongside alcohol as alcohol can speed its absorption and diminish its effectiveness.
Addiction is the main risk/side effect.
Leading to long term dependancy,
apart from that it depends what dosage. 2, 5, 10mg?
It can make you feel like your rushing sometimes when you first use them but that tends to dissapear when you start building a tollerance.
Out of all the prescription med’s for depression or anxiety related problems I’ve found these to have the least amount of side effects.
Ah yes,,the side affects,,look at me,,I have been taking it for just a few days
