Is Diazepam Group Of Medicine Basically A Tranqulizer?
Diazepam IS Valium. It is in the Benzodiazepine family and is beneficial in treating anxiety, insomnia, seizures, alcohol withdrawal, and muscle spasms. There are sedative affects ; doctors sometimes use it to create a state of amnesia after a procedure such as an endoscopy. Most drugs in this class should not be prescribed as a regular/maintenance drug. Good Luck !

DONT take more than the recommended dose with tramadol as it an addictive opiate drug, if your still in pain after taking them as for some tylex as well…… or just take paracetamol…… i had the tramadol/tylex mix after shoulder surgery and they worked VERY well.
i was prescribed tramadol 50mg and it never worked for me. i have back problems and it didnt even take away the pain for a minute, so i’d suggest asking for a different medication. Also, it’s addicting if you do start taking it often because it’s an opiate and my withdrawls were hell. so be careful!
please don’t take any more until it’s time for the next dose. Tramadol(Ultram) is notorious for lowering your seizure threshold. I did exactly what you want to do a few years ago. I took two for a migraine. Didn’t really touch the pain, so I thought, what the hell, it’s been a couple hours since the last dose so I’ll take another. Big MISTAKE!! I had a grand mal seizure. Please be careful of this drug and take as prescribed. I would hate for you to be driving somewhere soon after you’ve taken more than prescribed and have a seizure and kill yourself or someone else. You won’t over-dose with taking one more, but you do put yourself at risk. If this drug is not working for you, have you thought about asking the doc to put you on Ultram ER? It is the same drug, but you only have to take it once/day. It stays in your bloodstream and delivers a steady amount for 24 hours? this is what I take and I wouldn’t take anything else! Also, if you take more than prescribed, you’ll run out faster than you can get a refill, therefore you will have withdrawl symptoms(which are horrible and you’ll feel like you are dying). The doc will know that you are not taking as prescribed and he will be weary of you and giving you more and labeling you as a drug addict/seeker.
Call your Doctor!!
DO NOT take more than the dr. prescribes!!
You will run out of medicine before you are supposed to and they will NOT refill it early!!
So then you’re stuck for days with NOTHING to take at all!! THAT would be horrible!! (and if the Dr. thinks you are taking more pain medicine than you should, he/she may very well just “cut you off!” Doctors consider taking more medicine than prescribed as “abuse”.)
Also, if your current Dr. does not listen to you or attempt to make you better, or at least more comfortable, then find another doctor.
Remember, he/she is being paid to provide a service to you! If you’re not getting what you paid/are paying for, then move on to another Dr. And keep moving until you are being taken care of to your satisfaction!
Good Luck!
Feel better SOON!!!
*smile*
Hi, Im a pharmacy dispenser, I take tramadol, but they make me go completely loopy, so i dont take them often, but you should check with your gp. Are you on the modified release ones? What other medication are you on? How old are you etc… it all depends on many things, so best to check with your gp before taking any more.
Just because other people take higher doses, doesnt mean you should, check with your GP…he is responsible for the dosage you take, please check with him first.

It can take up to 24 hours before you feel the full effect of Tramadol. Continue the doctor’s prescribed dosage until tomorrow. If you continue to feel discomfort call your doctor and explain the situation. He may want to change your medication or dosage.
The trick with Tramadol is to take them at exactly the same time and at the same period every day.
You will have to take them for a while to get the true benefits.
Also your appetite will probably suffer.
I’m not a doctor or a chemist but I know from personal experience that if I took 150mg of Tramadol I’d be pretty much unconscious. It’s strong stuff, and it’s probably best not to guess with these things. I’d speak to your GP or pharmacist.
Tramadol is not a very good pain reliever. You might want to ask your doctor for something stronger. Like Vicodin or codine.
I use to take tramadol 2 or 3 at a time. But I wouldn’t recommend it.
wait another hour and if the pain is still there take one more, you can take up to 6in an eight hour period if you don’t have liver problems
they’ll make you ill, if you take too many, they do take a while to start working but they are good when they kick in, wait a bit longer.
its safe to take 2 paracetamol with them
Depends on your tolerance. I take (3) 50mg Tramadol when my back is really hurting and Im okay. Call your doctor to be sure.
I’d just stick with 2, it may just take a while to kick in. Three may be dangerous. Or not. But better safe than sorry.
i have taken tramadol and all it does is make me speed. i think that medicine works differently for some people
I dont know, but be careful before overdosing.
Yes and very addictive ones …also very sedative…cause more falls and accidents than any other class….actually by now they should be almost obolete…there are are so many other choices.
Yes. It’s also a smooth muscle relaxer. Diazepam is exactly the same thing as Valium.
Yes..very close. It slows down your nervous system. The brand name of the drug is Valium if you don’t already know…It is used for ppl with anxiety.
It is also used to relieve the symptoms of acute alcohol withdrawal, to relax muscles, to relieve the uncontrolled muscle movements caused by cerebral palsy and paralysis of the lower body and limbs, to control involuntary movement of the hands, to relax tight, aching muscles, and it can even, along with other medications, help treat convulsive disorders (i.e. epilepsy)
It is not very addictive.
Everyone I know has taken them including me.
It is a tranquilizer and Valium is a more common name.
It can be used to get over alcoholism or to just relax you.
I find them effective and like them in moderation.
I can find no after effects.
Although not a traditional tranqulizer, DIAZEPAM has similar effects but is proported to have fewer addictive properties.
“Diazepam is used to treat anxiety, acute alcohol withdrawal, and seizures. It is also used to relieve muscle spasms and to provide sedation before medical procedures. This medication belongs to a class of drugs called benzodiazepines which act on the brain and nerves (central nervous system) to produce a calming effect. It works by enhancing the effects of a certain natural chemical in the body (GABA).
OTHER USES: This medication may also be used to prevent extremely bad nightmares (night terrors).”
Diazepam is basically a generic form of valium. So, yes it is pretty much a tranqulizer.
Diazepam is in a class of drugs called benzodiazepines. Diazepam affects chemicals in the brain that may become unbalanced and cause anxiety, seizures, and muscle spasms.
Diazepam is used to relieve anxiety, nervousness, and tension associated with anxiety disorders. It is also used to treat certain types of seizure disorders and muscle spasms.
