My Fused Vertebrae In My Neck.. Please Help Me :o(?
I have a fused vertebrae in my neck C5&C6, Its give me pain, tension, bad headaches sleepless nights since I was about 14 as I have got older and grown its got worse. Due to them being fused my nerves between them are being squashed and thats what causes the pain, also the vertebra above and below are getting stiff and painful as they are compensating for the fused ones. I have been to the physiotherapist, chiropractor & the Doctors but none help. After leaving the chiropractors I feel a little relief but only for about a hour. I get no sleep as the pain is so bad, only way I can get a good sleep is if I take Diazepam through the day which relaxes my muscles and knocks me out, but I cant do this for ever as the doctor told me id get addicted to them and I can see why. I have tried heat pads, cold pads, hot baths, cold baths, neck massage machines, inferred heat. Ive been told I could have surgery but its a 50 50% chance it would make it worse. anyone have this problem? if so what help u

ever hear of phentermine.. its amazing.. the only thing it does is supress your apetite hardcore.. you won’t be hungry you actually have to make yourself eat.. so when you do eat, you can eat healthy foods and lots of fruits instead of whatever youre craving
I believe acupuncture might help , there is scepticism but it is an undeniable fact that the ancient orient knew more about the bodies nerves system than the entire modern world , don’t look in the yellow pages find a family of orientals and ask for their help they will send you to someone who has no recognised credentials but has learned the art as it has been passed down through the generations ,
Id prolly go for the operation in all honesty in case it works. Not much of a choice though you have my sympathies. I have in the past found yoga very good for relaxing muscles.
My husband has it. He finds good pillows help, and he swaps them around every so often. Specific pillows that have helped are Dunlopillo – one with a cutout so your shoulder slots in, and one very soft one which I think is called Serene. We got one from T K Maxx and one from Ebay – they are about £25 new or a tenner where we bought them.
you could try a tens machine it passes small electric curents in to 0the area you can get them from boots they help with my scatica which is also nerve pain
May I suggest an excellent book that may surprise you (it did me and I am a Chiropractor with 25 years of experience) with some powerful techniques for pain relief. It is called “Pain Free in 6 Weeks” by Sherry Rogers, M.D.
Dr. Rogers is a specialist in environmental medicine and nutritional biochemistry. In this book she explains many common causes of chronic pain that can be the result of environmental and/or nutritional problems. You may want to pay close attention to her explanations of ‘nightshade’ allergies and how they can cause chronic spinal pain.
The book is available at Amazon.com. I highly recommend it!
Best wishes and good luck.
My mum has a similar problem she has been offered an epidural.
Its worth asking your doctor about.
i also had a fusion in my neck the pain is awful in my arms when i had the op it was alright for a while then it went back to painful i have been put on gabapentin which gives me some relief i feel now that the op was a waste of time everybody is diffrent you will have to make your own mind up .try the gabapentin first.
I have this in my lower back, they removed a ruptured disc and didn’t fuse. The nerve was damaged as well.
Here is what I found: Sitting exerts the most pounds of pressure on your back, then comes standing, then lying down. A friend of mine just herniated a disc in his neck from sitting at the computer all day–it’s his job. The deal here seems to be get up and move around.
I took up yoga-beginners, the sort of thing you’d expect your grandmother to do. It does help. Go slow, and listen to your neck don’t push too much at first.
I took up weight lifting–felt like a million bucks. Over did it and hurt myself. Bummer that. Waiting to get back into it, and I’ll really take my time this time.
I do recommend the yoga and weight lifting (I did about 30 lbs. yeah, not much but it relieved the stress in my neck and back muscles and that’s all I was after.) for my neck I really like the SITTING Bench Press. I have always used the machines with the pullies, free weights I find are way to heavy and taxing. Go slow, can’t over stress that, it takes some time but it sure helped me.
I have the same problem with the fused 5th & 6th vert. I was going to the chiro one a month but want more options also.
I have fused neck vertebrae C5 and C6
A specialist doctor at The Pain Clinic in Nottingham gives me steroid injections every six months. This is performed in the operating theatre while I am awake and involves a team of nurses with ex-ray equipment. If it doesn’t work the first time they will not do it a second time. For me it works and has made a big difference. The doctor does a superb job and i can recommend this NHS service.
I too am doing through the same ordeal. I have a brachial plexus injury and slipped my C1, fractured my C2 and all my ligaments in my neck are torn all from a football hit. This was a year and a half ago and I’ve been wondering the same thing. Ever since this hit I’ve had a 24/7 migraine that doctors have told me will never go away, my left arm has numb spots in it, and my neck pain is constant as well. I’ve tried all the medicines doctors prescribe but non seem to work. Sleep is difficult for me and managing the pain gets annoying. What I’ve done is physical therapy, massages, chiropractors, acupuncture, and natural injections directly in my neck. All give me temporary relief but non that completely cured my pain. Running out of options, I am deciding whether or not to get my neck fused. Now knowing that it’s my C1 and C2, this operation is very, very risky and could make it worse for me, but taking into consideration, I’m almost out of options. I don’t want to deal with this pain any longer and willing to do anything possible. Any suggestions anyone?
