Anesthesia During Oral Surgery?
Hi,
This question is for a medical health professional.
I am a 17 year old female who is 5 feet tall and weighs 110 pounds. I am scheduled to get my 2 lower wisdom teeth extracted and am nervous that all of the sedatives/anesthetics combined will adversely affect me due to my small stature. He prescribed 1 10mg tablet of Diazepam at bedtime and 1 an hour prior to surgery. In addition, he is going to administer some nitrous oxide for surgery, as well as give me anesthesia via IV.
Based on my height and weight, do you think me taking these three things will put me at risk for a heart attack? I havent’t taken the Diazepam yet. Do you think it would be better if I took 5 mg instead?
Could nitrous oxide be potentially dangerous/have any negative consequences?
Thanks.
