What Happens When You Drink Alcohol With Methadone?
I know someone who drinks heavily e.g. a bottle of wine or more a day. They are on a highish dose of methadone, diazepam,anti depressants , risperidone,and other pills, not sure what. They have been complaining of blackouts and hearing voices. Also displayed paranoid behaviour. Dunno if it is the drug cocktail, as this person is possibly schizophrenic also. The anti psychotic dose is only 1 mg per day. What actually happens when methadone is mixed with alcohol??

Tramadol is an opioid, like codeine and morphine. If you had a true allergic reaction to Tramadol (shortness of breath, rash, swelling) and didn’t just get sick – you should call a pharmacist (not a doctor!) and ask if you should avoid the other two. The Tramadol may not have been a big deal; but a morphine drip in the hospital, when allergic, can kill. Better to be safe than sorry.
any abuse of this kind can result in drug induced phychosis alot of people using “tame” drugs end up in a living hell often with incurable but hopefully manageable schizophrenia this drug induced phychosis is a lot more common than users would care to know but most choose to ignore common sense thinking it wont happen to me! i would say if you have ever felt paranoid after a “session”then you are already walking a knife edge and a hairs breadth away from a non stop living nightmare.
it will likely have a major depressive effect. look at it like a simple math equation. say 10 is normal. methadone minus 2 (even tho it has a slight stimulant effect), benzos like valium minus 1, alcohol 2-4, etc. eventually the person will stop breathing or choke on their vomit, etc.
you can’t attempt to diagnose till they are off the drugs and past withdrawal. i have seen it in my x.
They’re wasting OUR money – taxes which help provide those drugs designed to help stop alcoholics from drinking.
If they keep on drinking as well, I think all drugs should be withdrawn from them, along with ALL access to alcohol. THEN SEE HOW THEY GET ON
I think that was what killed Anna Nicole Smith and her son. I drink pretty heavily, but mixing it with drugs is really dangerous, I’d never do that.
I just watched that Doctor G autosphy show were she did an autopsoy on a kid who downed beer and methadone. Combo killed him. Its a lethal combo man.
Sounds like that is one messed up person. And if they continue to drink they will end up dead soon if they dont stop
