What Is The Drug “diazepam” And What Does It Remedy?
Jocando,
Diazepam – originally marketed as Valium – is a benzodiazepine with CNS depressant properties and a somewhat flatter dose-response slope than the sedative-hypnotic drugs. It is prescribed as an Anxiolytic – Sedative – Muscle Relaxant. Diazepam is relatively devoid of autonomic effects and does not significantly reduce locomotor activity at low doses, or depress amphetamine-induced excitation. In high doses, it activates the drug metabolizing enzymes in the liver. Diazepam also possesses dependence liability and may produce withdrawal symptoms, but has a wide margin of safety against poisoning. In humans, comparable blood levels of diazepam were obtained in maternal and cord blood indicating placental transfer of the drug. Diazepam may appear in human breast milk. With the parenteral form, peak blood levels are reached within 15 minutes after i.v. administration and are of the same magnitude as after oral administration. The respective half-life is approximately 2-3 hours.

Congratulations on kicking the habit!
First of all, make sure that you are prescribed your Diazepam and not getting it illicitly. Secondly, make sure that you are aware of benzodiazipines addictive potential (they are physically addictive as well as psychologically addictive).
Diazepam should only be used for the short to mid term use. What I would recommend, is that you take up regular exercise (such as swimming or running) as this can help your mind as well as your body. Next take up something relaxing, such as playing an instrument, yoga, meditation, reading etc, as this will a) help you relax, and b) give your mind something to focus on. Finally, try and get into a regular sleep pattern. Make sure that you stop watching TV or listening to music a good 45 minutes before sleep. Relax in a warm bath, etc
I should think your G.P.would be the best one to advise you on help in sleeping, but well done you for getting off the cocaine! It must have taken some strength and determination.Ipray you will overcome the sleep problem soon,Good luck always.
Valerian, which is available from health shops, really helps with insomnia. However, herbal stuff varies in purity and quality. Go to a good store and try to get advice there. Sweet dreams.
You should ask your doctor for sleep medication. You should not be taking diazepam for sleeping.
I hat no faith in acupuncture until i tried it , helped me relax while recovering , best of luck and hope you make it ,
sorry i cant offer you advice on your problem but i just wanted to say good on you for kicking the habit. i admire people like you.
I was addicted to diazepam for a while, and coming off it was incredibly difficult and unpleasant. Still, you know all about that by the look of it, and are trying to avoid it, so good luck is all I can say.
You shouldn’t be self-prescribing thats for sure!
Get rid of the diazepam unless your doc has prescribed it, and if he has – use it as directed.
Set your alarm for 7am EVERY morning, get up when it goes off.
Don’t have any caffine or similar after 12pm.
Go for a long walk after dinner and don’t watch TV or eat after 9pm.
Get yourself a nice book, a warm milky drink and get in bed and read if you feel a little drowsy.
Just keep on reading and switch out the light if you feel yourself nodding off. If not, just keep on reading and up again the next morning at 7am!
I was addicted to cocaine 15 years ago.
The sleep thing is normal, try melatonin.
You might want to try AA or CA as your problem is not Cocaine
it is feelings that you treated with drugs and alcohol. The 12 steps have been the greatest thing that ever happened to me, getting sober.
Good luck
It’s the generic form of Valium. It is a muscle relaxant (if you’re having problems with muscle spasms or the muscles are tensed up and won’t relax, it’ll help), it can be used to sedate someone (help them sleep or calm them down when they’re freaking out), it helps reduce the feelings of being anxious or nervous, and it can also help with seizures. With seizures, it’s usually only given in pill form to people with anxiety disorders who have anxiety symptoms as a trigger for epilepsy. It’s also a common choice for IV for someone who’s in Status Epilepticus, which means they’re brain is trapped in a seizure and isn’t coming out on its own.
It’s a benzodiazepine derivative, Basically, it’s valium with a different brand name. I know what it does… a muscle relaxant, anticonvulsant, sedative, used to treat insomnia, anxiety, muscular spasms… I’ve taken one related to it, and it didn’t do a thing. I’m an unusual case when it comes to medication and side effects.
This info came from wikipedia… look it up yourself.
