What’s The Difference Between Paxil And Prozac?
I’ve been on both. Prozac seems to work much better for some reason.

The main difference between Paxil and Prozac is Prozac has a much longer half-life (it stays in your body longer).
Paxil is an SSRI like Prozac so while they’re both “anti-depressants” they are in different classes and SSNI are the newer class and Cymbalta’s the latest and greatest widely marketed in the US.
Both Paroxetine (trade names Seroxat, Paxil)
and Fluoxetine (trade name Prozac).
There’s little difference between the two. . Both are antidepressant drugs of the SSRI (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor) class.
Paxil has slightly more inhibition of norepenephrine uptake than Prozac, which is slightly more selective. In terms of side effects, Paxil is slightly more sedating and less likely to cause insomnia, and slightly more likely to cause weight gain. But in general, the mechanisms of action and side effects are the same.
Prozac is indicated for depression whereas Paxil is treatment for GAD ( generalized anxiety disorder)
Not a lot of difference, but it’s pretty lame that someone has to pop a pill to feel happy.
